My english overview
WHO I AM
I am a professional freelance journalist since 1987. My passions and my obsessions often are and sometimes become a job: music, travels, lifestyle, landscape, country heritage, agriculture, wine & food, art, books, sport.
My master was the great late Indro Montanelli, whose “Il Giornale” is still the newspaper I work for. I live with my wife in a village in the middle of the Siena countryside. As a travel writer I visited more than 100 foreign countries and I wrote hundreds of reportages from around the world. But I write about a lot of other matters for many magazines and newspapers, because I think that a good journalist must be able to write articles about everything. I was also a teacher of freelance journalism at Istituto di Formazione Giornalistica in Milan and involved into journalist associations and organizations.
WHAT I AM DOING
I just published “Vanishing Firenze”, a book about the last handcraftsmen in town. And I am writing another one about the best art restorers. I planned to make a bigger book about the last, true italian handcraft traditions. A book about big italian train stations is on the way. For Siena Tourist Board I am writing a literary guide to the Crete Senesi.
Forthcoming reportages: bellydancing traditions, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Marsala wines. “To be a professional yachtman” and “Countryside tourism in Tuscany” are the next, for different magazines.
Trips planned in 2010: Egypt, Syria, Israel, New York, Boston, London, Abu Dhabi, Ras al Khaiman, Japan.
